They're really cool!

[Rin's already impressed. He turns the camera to show the team behind him. They're happily louging around, enjoying the fruits of their labor.]

Birdie, Blue, and Quil fought against Falkner's team. [That's Pidgeot, Lapras, and Quilava respectively.] It was a tough match for us.

[Hiccup's pretty proud of these three. He also appreciates the fact that two of them were from friends who'd gone home.]

Yeah? What were their levels at, when you challenged him?

My highest level was 38. Most of them are a little lower than that. Poochy, [he points to the Poochyena lounging on his lap], didn't want to challenge Falkner again. How about yours?

My own highest was level 56, but someone else did most of Laila's training...

The other two were in their mid-30's and early-40's.

[Oh, right, he only did about half of Adder's training, too. WHOOPS, GETTING OFF EASY WHEN IT COMES TO GYMS...]

My other pokemon have levels a lot lower, though.

They can get that strong? [And here he though level 38 was super impressive... Color him a thousand times more impressed!]

A lot stronger than that, too! I heard people on the network talking about level 100's, a few times.

And er, no... Not really. [His grin is a bit sheepish.] If I have time to form a strategy or I know the enemy, then it's okay, but I usually end up observing the fights with wild pokemon instead of commanding them.

Level 100s... [He's in awe.] It must take a long time to get them to those levels.

[That is a feeling he could relate to.] I'm not so good with strategies, so I let Birdie and Blue come up with their own. ...Never thought about observing wild battle before. I've seen them but... [he shrugs] ...I don't like watching them battle.

Battle was a part of everyday life, back home, and it's a good way to understand strengths and weaknesses. Besides, my pokemon have never seemed to mind it.

[That's seriously cool...] Strengths and weakness, huh? I got into fights back home, but not a battle. [There were two incidents that come to mind, but they're not anything he wants to discuss... But he does smile at Hiccup's last sentence.]

They don't seem to mind a lot of things! My team's the same way. They're happier when they're battling -- except Poochy.
