[Anyone familiar with the gym in Goldenrod will know what's up. Because that sure is wailing going on in the background.

...Oddly enough, though, there are also the sounds of:
1 Charmander snoring,
1 Swablu chirping, and
1 tiny viking arguing with a giant dragon.]

[Sorry, Whitney, but your blubbering is being ignored in favor of dealing with the most exasperated Salamence ever. This was so much more important than badges.]

Yeah, okay, I get that you can 'fly' fly, but you're telling me that you have the ability to use the move Fly. As in 'carry me through the skies' Fly. Why didn't you tell me?

[Adder huffs noisily before flapping her wings to shoot a hard gust of air at him. HICCUP, SHE'S BEEN TRYING TO DO THAT FOR TWO WEEKS. You've just been focusing on ~alternative flight methods~ with Carmen Sandiego. Really, though, she wouldn't be annoyed if you weren't making such a big deal out of it. Just be happy already.]

Yeah, yeah... [Hiccup sighs, apparently giving in for now, before wandering over to slide the gear out from under the drowsy Charmander's claws.] Just would have been nice to know... Wait. Stormfly, didn't you just turn this off?

I've seen people asking about them... I'd be pretty surprised if there wasn't, really. Seems like it'd be obvious to have them, since pokemon are the main mode of transport.

I noticed that as well. It could be a video game thing, much like the background music. [He eventually shrugs as well.]

[He really is appreciative of the dragon, despite their little spat, and the gleam of pride in his eyes that appears at the mention of her should show it.

[Carmen's certainly expecting to see some fawning over the Dragonite, indeed, which is why it makes it all the more notable when he doesn't. She watches his attention as it goes to the Arcanine and observes quietly at the familiarity he shows for her.

Carmen never knew Vicky's owner; she simply showed up in her PC one day, and she's always sort of wondered how that came to pass, and why. Now, seeing Hiccup, she's got double reason to wonder.]

[It is strange, but in an odd way, it's reassuring, too. Vicky had showed up in her PC unbidden, with no fanfare and no indication of how she'd come to be there; seeing Hiccup's reaction to her somehow makes the idea of her former trainer a little more solid, a little more real — that there was once a woman named Ziva who raised her, and Hiccup remembers it, even if she doesn't herself.

Don't mind Carmen casting a mildly watchful eye on her; she's sort of gotten in the habit of keeping track of potentially Really Large Birds in her general vicinity, thanks to Coop's phobia, and while he's not anywhere around now, she'll certainly be ready if an intervention did become necessary.

Still, she'll reach out her hand in the same way that Hiccup did, a silent hello to this new Pokemon in their midst. Vicky, on the other hand, recognizes Laila at once (naturally), and her tail begins to wag.]

Responsible is an excellent word for her. So is reliable, and dependable.
