Tenth Flight. [video/action for Mahogany Town.]
You did great, girl... It was my fault we lost.
[The Salamence doesn't seem satisfied with this, giving a disgruntled huff as she butts her head against Hiccup's outstretched hand. Neither are aware they're being shakily recorded. The cameramon, not taking kindly to being unnoticed, goes on to ignore them in turn, scanning the area just outside Mahogany's Center with the 'gear's video instead. A tired Noctowl is perched near an even more exhausted-looking Seadra, with a Chansey nearby to tend to them. The snow clinging to Laila's feathers is further proof of their defeat at the hands of Pryce.]
And even if we did lose, I can't believe you all held on so long! [He smiles at Adder, scratching under her chin as she croons.] I guess you've all gotten pretty strong.
[Their affection, even as subdued as it is by their loss, is enough to annoy the recording pokemon further. He had something important to tell them! The video becomes a blurred mess, punctuated by a yelp of pain before it settles onto a skewed view of the sky.]
Musphel! What-- [He leans over, sighs, and rolls his eyes.] ...Yes. Very good. You turned it on. Well d-- [Hiccup is interrupted by the Charmander's insistent growl. His sarcastic expression brightens instantly, and it's once again all sky as he moves out of frame.] It's hatching?
[Looking satisfied that his trainer will now be tending to the new dragon instead of expecting things from him, Musphel comes over and turns off the 'gear. Now he can nap in peace.]

because Thief Mom reasons, but she'd let Hiccup make his way to the Center on his own afterward because he is a competent, independent young man and does not needhis mompeople hovering around him while he handles his business. Which is why this is audio. For the moment.]
Which one is hatching today?
audio->video;
The Axew. Astrid has one--Tuskgrinder, I think she named it.
[He switches his own feed to video, tilting the 'gear to show Carmen the cracking dragon egg.]

And aptly named it is, too, with a mouth like that. Is this one related to hers?
[Carmen what are you insinuating.]

[Mom, stop shipping! You're embarrassing me!]
No--her's was with her when she woke up here. I got this Axew from these two guys I know. Karkat and Vanitas.

From what I've seen of her, she's good with a lot of things. Is she going to help you with naming this one, or do you have one already picked out?

[As a piece of shell falls, Hiccup absently picks it up and thumbs across the material.] I do...have some idea. Ruffnut if it's a girl, and if it's a boy I'll probably name it Fishlegs. They're some kids from home.
video; | private
[She hands off her Gear to Chief, who obligingly keeps it suspended for her while she sorts through her own Pokeballs.]
I assume Fishlegs doesn't actually have fish legs, does he?

She'll come around.
[He glances up at the 'gear when he sees her video moving and chuckles at the implication.]
No, of course not. I don't even know if he's good at swimming. [Hmmn... Hiccup's own name wasn't hard to figure out--part of it was following through with family tradition, yes, but the name had certainly been fitting for the small child he was. Astrid had always been uncommonly beautiful, for a viking. What about Fishlegs...] Fish are a main source of food for us, so maybe he had really meaty legs? Other than it maybe being a family name, that's the best guess I've got.
[All this talking sure is making the hatching go by faster. Hurray for taking his mind off the urge to squeal like an excitable girl!]

A famous poet once said, "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Important as they are, it's more than just a name that defines who we are.
You're going to try again though, right? I didn't think it went...that...badly.
Sure, eventually... Probably not anytime soon.
[Not that she wasn't considering trying.]
You'll probably wipe the floor with Falkner.
Maybe. Won't know until I try. But I need it for fly, right?

She's an Axew! They're a dragon type.

My team doesn't do all that great against ice attacks.
