Alright. So, everyone? Feel free to start calling me Bastian. [His smile somehow widens even more as he reaches down and lifts his newest team member, draping her over his shoulders and giving her a little scritch behind the fins.] I just got myself my very own luckdratini.

[The Dratini--an unusual purple-tinted pink--studies the 'gear with a twinkle in her eye. Well, really there's a twinkle everywhere else, too. Yep, like so many pokemon showing up on the network, this baby's a shiny.]

I'm going out to show Falkor the city, okay?

[...And wow, yeah, that gesture kind of reminded Hiccup of a certain Night Fury when his curiosity was up. Huh.]

Uh, sure--well, not everything. That would make your ear fall off... But my friends and I all own-- [Hiccup pauses a second, knowing that he should correct that statement to owned.] --different kinds dragons back home. My tribe used to be at war with them, but then I met Toothless, a kind of dragon called a Night Fury.

[Pause.]

Actually, was there anything about them specifically that you wanted to know? What they look like, how they act, stuff like that?

Yes, mine hatched into a Charmander. I am glad to have gotten her, although she is not very polite.

[He sighs slightly, but listens to what Hiccup has to say about dragons with increasing interest. He does make an odd sort of expression, a mix between confusion and slight distaste, at the word 'own', but lets it go.]

Well...many of the people here have said that dragons in their worlds are unpleasant and cruel and destructive, but if your people are partnered with them now, they aren't like that, are they?

[He sounds a little anxious to know; he doesn't want his world to be the only one with good dragons.]

That might...be common for Charmanders. Mine isn't exactly polite, either.

No--not intentionally, anyway. They still kind of destroy things by accident, but a lot of them are actually helpful! There are a few people who would argue that dragons are still evil and stupid creatures, but... Toothless was the first friend I ever had. He showed me how different they were from how we thought.

[That gets a smile out of him, although he's still getting used to making these human facial expressions.]

That is good to hear. Not very many people in England understand dragons either, unless the people are in the Aerial Corps. They think we will eat them, as though we thought they were cows. [He snorts, showing his disdain for that idea.]

I am sure yours will get better at not destroying things the longer they stay with you, and that those with poor opinions will see that they are in the wrong.

[Okay, wait a second. Either the people in this 'England' place were incredibly stupid and thought dragons and cows looked even remotely similar, or Hiccup was talking to a dragon. And the latter was seeming way more likely and giving him some context for Temeraire's body language.]

...You're way better at talking than Toothless was while he was here.

[Temeraire looks visibly pleased at the compliment, but also a tiny bit confused.]

Well, the shape of my mouth was troublesome at first, but it was designed to speak like this and I learned very quickly. But I have always been able to speak...was it not the same for Toothless?

Huh... No--not this language, at least. Just animal sounds, sort of like pokemon. He did learn how to say a few words, though, like 'fish' and 'kitty', and he could understand most of what people said.

[He makes his slightly-off, but still genuine, smile again.]
