[Hey, Pokemon World. Did you miss vikings being derpy? Well, never fear! Here's Hiccup, grinning like a fool and looking way too excited as he backs up from where he's set his 'gear.]

Alright. So, everyone? Feel free to start calling me Bastian. [His smile somehow widens even more as he reaches down and lifts his newest team member, draping her over his shoulders and giving her a little scritch behind the fins.] I just got myself my very own luckdratini.

[The Dratini--an unusual purple-tinted pink--studies the 'gear with a twinkle in her eye. Well, really there's a twinkle everywhere else, too. Yep, like so many pokemon showing up on the network, this baby's a shiny.]

I'm going out to show Falkor the city, okay?

[Someone's been reading The Neverending Story lately...]

Er, Hiccup, actually. [His smile becomes more sheepish for a second, because wow what is he even doing with his life.] Bastian's from a book. The Dratini's name is Falkor, though.

[He's totally seen -that- face before. Well, that expression anyway.]

Haha okay. Nice to meet you Hiccup. I can go with Bastian if you want though!

[Well... As much fun as it is to pretend, it would probably be very embarrassing to have people hear him being called Bastian after he gets over the excitement of having a real live luckdratini.]

Nice to meet you, too, Obito. [Time to put the focus back onto Falkor. Easier to talk about her than silly names, anyway.] Falkor's egg took way longer than most of the ones people got on Christmas, but I'd say she was definitely worth the wait.

She's great! I just got a Dratini Egg myself but I doubt she'll come out that color, I hear most are blue. So, why Falkor? I've been kinda floundering with names since I got here so what's yours mean?

Most are, yeah. My Dragonair, Midgardsormr, was blue when he hatched.

[BIG BREATH.]

Falkor's another character in the book Bastian is from--it's called The Neverending Story, and it's really good! Anyway, the Falkor in the book is what's called a Luckdragonair, and like my Falkor, he was this pink color instead of the regular blue. Oh, he was also a boy, but I don't think that, ah, should matter too much.

[Hasn't cancelled out the luck so far, anyway.]

He actually spends more time with Atreyu than Bastian I think, but I...wouldn't make a very good Atreyu. He's kind of a warrior.

Oh! You're more a civilian type of person? I've been meeting a ton of those since I got here. Nothing wrong with that! I mean, I'm not, but I'm not exactly good with being a not-shinobi even here and yeah. Any advice I should expect for my little dragon? I'm thinking the name Tobi.

Well, uh. [Whaaat.] Where I come from, pretty much everyone is a warrior? But I'm not all that good at the whole lifting axes thing, and better at the actually using my brain thing, so it, uh, kind of balances out. I guess. What's a shinobi?

[Let's see... Advice on a Dratini...]

Tobi sounds like a good name. Sometimes pokemon give themselves new names, though, so it might be a good idea to check with it when it hatches. Since all pokemon are different, it's hard to say what yours will be like--Falkor's already more enthusiastic than my Dragonair, Midgardsormr, was, but even he liked to play. My friend Astrid's Dragonair, on the other hand, doesn't seem to like to do anything.

So really, I guess you should just listen to and respect them like any person. Some creatures--especially dragons--are very proud. They're good allies, when you've formed a bond with them, but strong enemies if they're against you.

Man it's right back to the 'just treat them like summons and go with it thing... Okay, I can do that! I'll just have to wait and see.

[And then watch him get all kinds of eager.] You totally would've been fine in my village then! Shinobi have to be -smart-. Like, my teammate? He's the smartest person in my age group and he's the -best- shinobi. Being able to learn and strategize is -prized-. But um, yeah. Shinobi are ninja, and if you still have no clue what that is, I used to be able to do stuff like run from tree to tree, walk up walls, and blow fire. But, not everyone can do that stuff so we have nin who do nothing but break codes all day, or who plan assaults and sneak plans. Or ones who specialize in traps and poisons.

It's too bad you sound like you were born into a more physical fighter class if you actually -wanted- to be a warrior though.

I, uh. I see. [No he doesn't.] A-anyway, my tribe learned to accept me as different, since I ended the war with the dragons, and all...that. So it's good, now.

[He wasn't trying to break your brain, really, but he's not used to the idea of humans not being able to do that stuff yet. It's been less than a month after all. Thus, he beams at you.]

Nothing wrong with that! Where you're from had real dragons too? So cool. We had all kinds of stuff but not dragons. Like, my family has cats. Some of em can talk, but, well, cats can't FLY so...

[Wow, Obito all of this is just...slowly making him forget about his Dratini scarf. Hiccup's kind of staring.]

Your cats could talk?

Not all of them! Just a few of the ones from the summon family. It's not like the Inuzuka who have -mostly- talking dogs. I mean, yeah.

Animals don't talk at all, where I'm from. Even when Toothless was here and turned into a human, he had trouble talking.

What's a summon, anyway?

A summon is a creature, or in some cases clan of creatures that has a blood pact with you to come when you call them. Usually the big clans of those can talk. My Sensei has his pact with the toads.

Okay... So that's why you compared them to pokemon before. It does sound, uhmn, kind of the same.

Yes, well, it's easiest to look at it that way when you have something to work with, historywise.
