Alright. So, everyone? Feel free to start calling me Bastian. [His smile somehow widens even more as he reaches down and lifts his newest team member, draping her over his shoulders and giving her a little scritch behind the fins.] I just got myself my very own luckdratini.

[The Dratini--an unusual purple-tinted pink--studies the 'gear with a twinkle in her eye. Well, really there's a twinkle everywhere else, too. Yep, like so many pokemon showing up on the network, this baby's a shiny.]

Huh, I guess that'd make sense. Just wasn't sure, since shiny Pokémon seem so rare in the first place.

[But maybe not so rare that they wouldn't have books written about 'em.

...Also, it's probably a good thing Cinder's sleeping because if she knew she was getting attention of any kind, she'd probably scramble under the bed. Silly lizard.]

So, what's this book about, anyway?

Yeah... I think there were only six Luckdragonairs in all of Fantastica, and Falkor was the only one who appeared.

A boy--Bastian--ends up reading this book called The Neverending Story, which is the name of the actual book too. Anyway, Bastian's book is about a world in trouble since their ruler is sick and parts of the land are being eaten up by Nothing. The Childlike Empress sends for Atreyu the warrior to figure out what's causing all this, and he goes on an adventure. It's really interesting, since the actual book is written in two different ink colors to distinguish between Bastian's story and Atreyu's story.

Huh, so the story's about two different characters, huh?

[...Fascinating. Riku can always get behind a good adventure story.]

So, what's this Nothing, exactly?

It has bits and pieces of other characters' stories, but Bastian and Atreyu are the main ones.

[But hmmmn, how to explain the Nothing...]

It's just...this absence that's eating the world? In the book, they describe looking at it as feeling like you've gone blind.

Huh. So is it erasing the world? That's the impression I'm getting, anyway.

Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. When the people of Fantastica got too close to the Nothing, parts of them would just disappear, like it never existed in the first place. They say it doesn't hurt, though.
