Met when an egg from Aradia and Jake hatched on 1/28/13 @ level 1. Atreyu was once against battling of all kind, but some local bird-types hanging around Albert's house were smack-talking one day and made him angry. Now he eagerly trains, hoping for the day where he can wipe out all the wild birds at the Justice Farm. Taking on the gym challenge would be alright, too. He was named after Atreyu from The Neverending Story, given a Kabutops's warrior-like appearance.

Met when an egg from Aradia and Jake hatched on 1/22/13 @ level 1. Hiccup acquired the Blitzle's egg specifically because the zebra-striped body reminded him of the book character Cairon from The Neverending Story. Instead of being inclined towards medicine like his namesake, Cairon is preparing to be a racing steed, convinced that one day he will be a star. He doesn't get along with Hookfang, as the Arcanine is Hiccup's main mount.

Received when Toothless left Johto on 3/9/12 @ level 9. This Magikarp didn't have a nickname when Hiccup received him. The viking just assumed he was named "Fish". Because of Toothless's habit of carrying Fish around in his mouth, the pokemon began to develop anxiety. Hiccup is currently trying to rehabilitate him, and since he refuses to evolve him into what would surely be a mess of problems capable of destroying a city, Hiccup has given him the Everstone received from winning second place in a Bug-Catching Contest.

Met when an egg from Riku hatched on 2/21/13 @ level 1. Despite the fact that Fishlegs doesn't really like to participate in battling, he likes to hang around the stronger members of the team. Instead of joining in the training, he acts as a bit of a cheerleader, which isn't always appreciated. Sandhide likes having him around because he usually believes her rumors first.

Met when an egg from Kyrie hatched on 5/7/12 @ level 1. Hiccup purchased Flip's egg so that Fish could have a friend to help calm him down. While it seems like all the two do around each other is gape and occasionally splash around, their reactions to Hiccup or the rest of his team are somewhat more aggressive. He's happy with leaving most of Fish's rehabilitation to the Feebas, and won't evolve either of them until they become at least a fraction more sociable.

Met at the National Park for the BCC on 9/20/12 @ level 18. Hiccup won second place with Gabbee at the Bug-Catching Contest, which thoroughly annoyed Stoick the Leavanny. He had been planning to name whatever he got at the contest after Gobber, to match his other bug, but had to modify his plan a little bit when his final bug turned out to be female. Now the little bee has made it her mission to terrorize Stoick, and appear sweet and innocent to everyone else.

Met when an egg from the Breeding Centre hatched on 9/23/12 @ level 1. When all the other pokemon hatched alongside Key, Hiccup was grateful that she seemed to be pretty chill overall. Other than her gluttonous attitude, there just isn't much about the Feraligatr that can be considered negative and she's willing to share, if that counts for anything. Key is not only terrifyingly tall, but her eating habits have created a bit of a gut that causes her to appear even bigger. She was named to match Kite as a reference to Ben Franklin's experiment.

Met when an egg from the Breeding Centre hatched on 9/23/12 @ level 1. Kite likes to go places out of everyone else's reach--so Hiccup figures that having Laila and Stormfly is especially useful when dealing with this bird's antics. It's easiest to appeal to Kite's curiosity when trying to get his attention, so anything new or shiny will do the trick. When he first hatched, fellow newborn Night Fury tried to eat him, giving him a fear/hatred of all cats. He was named to match Key the Feraligatr in reference to the experiment done by Ben Franklin.

Received when Ziva left Johto on 4/2/12 @ level 54. Sweet and insecure, Laila takes some time to get used to new people--but once she does, she loves being around them. She tended to try and hide in Ziva's hair when she was a Hoothoot, but since evolving made her far too large to do so, and settled for preening it instead. Despite being shy, in battle she's a bit of a raging banshee. When she was passed on to Hiccup due to Ziva's departure, she took to mothering her little fail-viking. Now, she doesn't get to roam free as much as she once did on account of Cooper's fear of birds, but she is delighted whenever Hiccup comes into possession of an egg, as it means she gets to test out her motherhood skills once again. Her name means "night" in Hebrew.
Laila was returned to Ziva on 12/10/12, somewhat as part of a Hanukkah gift.

Met when an egg from Karkat and Vanitas hatched on 9/28/12 @ level 1. Even as a younger member of Hiccup's roster, Leo takes a big interest in the ladies. He doesn't care much for battle, since he doesn't want anything happening that will make him not look snazzy, but is perfectly happy with the idea of being a transportation pokemon. His name, along with Vince's, comes from a history lesson--this time with Albert--on Leonardo da Vinci.

Met when an egg from Rose hatched on 3/29/12 @ level 1. Midgardsormr rarely strays from his trainer's side, even when most of the time he feels like giving Hiccup hell over the food he's been fed. Now that he no longer wants to be treated like a baby, Midgardsormr has lost some of his fondness for hide and seek. Seeing another Dratini/Dragonair/Dragonite will always make him want to seem cuter, however, regardless of the other's gender. Forever annoyed that no one can pronounce his name, and has refused to evolve to keep the name relevant.

Met when an egg from Aradia and Jake hatched on 1/20/13 @ level 1. As much as Hiccup wished this particular hatchling would be as demure as The Childlike Empress, beggars can't be choosers--and Moon Child is as rough-and-tumble as they come. Add in the further embarrassment of being a boy named after a girl--and taking this swap much worse than Falkor, who was also named after a character in The Neverending Story--and you've got one Igglybuff out to make someone pay. He likes to pinch Hiccup while he's sleeping.

Met when an egg from Yagyuu and Nero hatched on 6/15/12 @ level 1. Musphel hasn't really taken much interest in Hiccup or the rest of the team. He prefers to stick to himself and nap the day away, and has a tendency to throw a tantrum if he's woken up. In line with his unwillingness to participate, Musphel has refused to evolve. Hiccup, while disappointed at apparently not getting a Charizard, respects the pokemon's decision.

Met when an egg from Yagyuu hatched on 1/1/13 @ level 1. Rockbiter is almost a cat-like dragon, though he lacks the disdain that some cats have. He likes to climb, which is problematic due to his large size and rough scales causing things to wind up broken. Another issue is his tendency for giving affection. Though Rockbiter has a powerful roar, he's quiet more often than not. His name is totally not a reference to The Neverending Story, since that would mean he's seen the movie and not read the book. It's just because he looks like he might chew on rocks, yep.

Met when an egg from Karkat and Vanitas hatched on 8/14/12 @ level 1. As hoped when Hiccup had been thinking about names for his two eggs, Ruffnut was not only a girl, but she accepted the slightly-older Gible as her sibling right away. Ruffnut in particular has a battle-ready personality, and likes to rush out with Tuffnut ahead of their trainer no matter how many times that's caused problems for them.

Met when an egg from Riku hatched on 1/7/13 @ level 1. Sandhide is, quite frankly, a Chatty Cathy. She likes to spend time talking with Eve, since even if the Rotom doesn't actually know it all, she can scroll through Hiccup's past conversations and dig up information. Even battling is treated more like a social sport than a competition, and if she's not too bothered by the whole trying to win thing, Sandhide will strike up a question-filled conversation about the other's trainer, or what it's like to be a wild pokemon. At the very least, she will usually try to make polite chit-chat with her opponent. After he pushed her over, Sandhide started a rumor about Musphel saying that he didn't want to evolve because he was afraid of heights. When that proved to be a bit lame, she changed her tune. Now, the (false) fact that Musphel has a crippling passion for Valhallarama--and dreams of her as he sleeps--has circulated nicely throughout Hiccup's roster.

Met when an egg he bred hatched on 12/1/12 @ level 1. The offspring of Zippleback and Astrid's Luxray, Crackletail. Though not actively trained, Sheara has taken a shining to battling. Because of this, she tries to spend time around the stronger members of the team--mostly Astrid, Helga, Littlefoot, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut. Unfortunately for her, Helga is really the only one that acknowledges her. Still, she does her best in being their cheerleader and dreams of the day she'll be another powerhouse on the team. Unless Helga is counted as a foster sibling, Sheara doesn't pay much attention to her family.

"Shella" was given to Astrid as a trade for Brightwire the Shinx with the assurance that she could change the name if she wished.

Not one for battling, the main incentive of evolution for Shockflock was the prospect of being able to hold a book. While not yet familiar with human letters, he's fascinated when he hears people reading or discussing things they've learned. He gets along better with his brother Brightwire than with Sheara, since his sister views brains to be inferior to brawn.

Met when an egg from Riku hatched on 8/7/12 @ level 1. Tuffnut was one of two eggs in Hiccup's care at a certain time, and he had already come to think of them as siblings when the Gible hatched. He named him Tuffnut, in the hopes that the other egg would be female and could complete the twins (which fortunately happened). Being born a week earlier than Ruffnut, Tuffnut has been taking his job as big brother seriously, both enjoying the pranks and battles, and looking out for his Axew 'sister'.

Met when Valentine's 2012 egg hatched on 2/28/12 @ level 1. Urd had a deep fascination with Dinkfin from the moment she hatched. She was the mother of Hiccup's very first egg, which he then gave to Rose in return for Midgardsormr. Hiccup is wary about keeping her in his party for very long, knowing he got off easy with that single egg, but he will bring her out more if his travel group is closer to a body of water.

Met when an egg from Riku hatched on 9/28/12 @ level 1. Vince's egg was picked up both because Hiccup has an interest in dinosaurs (especially dragonesque ones), and obviously the kid needs more flyers. When the temperment of the mother was learned, Hiccup wasn't too keen on the idea any more, but decided to give the Aerodactyl a shot. He's a lot more impatient than the rest of Hiccup's roster, and is already showing a tendency to be cranky. He was named along with Leo after Leonardo da Vinci, based on knowledge Hiccup learned from Albert.
