newberktown: (uhh)

First Flight. [video/action for new bark town.]

[For anyone browsing the network, they might notice a gangly, brown-haired teen flashing in and out of video. Technology this advanced might be foreign to Hiccup, but he's always been pretty good at working things out and soon enough he seems satisfied enough to keep it on video.

And is he wearing a dorky cape over his usual clothes? He is totally wearing a dorky cape.]

Uhh...

[Uncertain!]

Hello? I must be crazy... Uhmn, if anyone's listening, I could use a little help?

[A more thoughtful look as he goes back to fiddling with the device. A frown follows.]

New Bark Town? Hmn, I guess these guys don't know how to spell Berk... Why can't vikings see grammar is important, too?

[Hiccups gives the feed A Look before shutting it off.]

Return...to the same moment?

So then he'll be safe, but I'll...still have to slay a dragon. Or convince everyone that we've misjudged them.

Think of it this way: you now have time to think over how you will convince them.

Dragons, hm?

[Ziva is intrigued.]

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[That's a new way to look at it. Optimism isn't something that comes easily to Hiccup, but he does feel a bit better.]

Uh, yeah. Do you not have dragons in your world...? [He can't even imagine.] Everyone thinks they're just these horrible monsters, but that's not true at all.

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
No, we do not.

The friend you were speaking of--is he a dragon, then?

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. For now Toothless is safe in a cove, but... Who knows what could happen.

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
...Toothless?

[Oh that explains so much. Ziva actually laughs. EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE NOW.]

Well, you certainly do not have to worry about him. He is perfectly fine, and I think he will be very excited to see you.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[The sudden laughter causes Hiccup to stare.]

What? [SO CONFUSED. Until his brain works it out.] Wait, is... Is Toothless here?!

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, he is. He has been traveling with my friends and I for a couple of months now. I had been wondering what he was before this place, since he was fairly obviously not a normal person.

You should probably know that he has been turned into a human since his arrival here. We have been trying to teach him some words, but it has been somewhat slow going.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-06 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Even with what he knows about time in Johto, the concept is still pretty hard to grasp. Toothless had been living in this place for months?

Hiccup felt a bit of a jealous pang. He liked Ziva already, but it was weird to think about Toothless having made friends other than him. Even with other dragons, the Night Fury had been a loner.

He pushes these thoughts aside and tunes back in as she explains.]

A human? [Does not compute.] Ah... But Toothless is pretty intelligent. I mean, he always understands me, I...think.

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, he is very intelligent. He understands perfectly--he just seems to have some trouble wrapping his mouth around words himself. It is a common issue with those learning another language, much less how to speak at all. I still mix words up myself.

[She'd understand, if she knew what Hiccup was thinking. Right now she's just trying to think of the best way to get Toothless to Hiccup, or vice-versa. They're in Goldenrod, after all--it's a long trip.]

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... [Hiccup's eyes roll upwards a bit as he thinks.] Yeah, his mouth would have been a lot wider. And he has retractable teeth normally. I guess it would be pretty strange for him...

[He focuses back on Ziva, noticing her thoughtful expression.]

Uhmn... Is there a problem?

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Mm? Oh, it is just that we are in Goldenrod City--it is quite a long way from New Bark Town.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
...Oh.

[He had been thinking it would be simple. Hiccup's never gone too far from home, and his brain was still stuck on the Toothless that was able to zip through the sky, no problem.]

Well... I guess I should get going then, huh? If I want to get to this Goldenrod City place.

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Ziva tilts her head thoughtfully.]

Perhaps...you could ask if anyone would be willing to fly you here. Or Toothless to you, if you would rather. There are some interesting things to see along the way, though traveling this time of year means camping in the cold.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
[He perks up a little.] So it's possible to fly in this place?

I guess...it would be up to Toothless? But really, I don't mind the cold too much.

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
It is. In fact, two of mine would be able to carry you, I think, if they knew the proper trick to do so. It is not so simple as just telling them, otherwise it would be easy.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Wait--Why wouldn't it be as simple as telling them?

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I am not completely sure--it is just the way it works. For instance, I could tell my Laila to fly to you--it is carrying you back that would be the trick.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
...That's weird. Unless it requires a saddle, or something...

And what does Laila look like? [Pause.] And, uh, how do I return this little guy to that ball thing? He's starting to shiver...

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Just...hold it out to him and tell him to return.

[She thinks. She's not quite sure how that works yet, but it seems to do it for hers. As for Laila--Ziva pulls another Pokeball off her belt and releases the GIANT OWL. Who hoots contentedly and after a moment starts trying to preen Ziva's hair. It's always so messy. :|]

Many of my team is rather large, it gets quite crowded with all of them out at once.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Well that seems simple enough. But he does feel a bit foolish as he tells the Horsea to return. To his surprise, though, it works like a charm! And he puts the pokeball back into the pack.

He studies Laila with wide eyes because that is a TRULY BIG OWL.]
I...see. Uh, just how many of these thingies do you have, Ziva?

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hmn...

[Hiccup is now digging through his bag, finding the other five pokeballs and pushing each of the buttons. When he returns to the gear, he looks a tad disappointed.]

All my other capsule things are empty...

[identity profile] bywiseguidance.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Ziva nods.]

They start that way. You will encounter other Pokemon along the road, and have the chance to catch and train them, receive eggs that will hatch after a time, trade with others, or gain Pokemon when others leave this world.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see.

Everyone keeps mentioning that I have to 'train' this Horsea thing and any other pokemon I get, but what does that mean, for them?

[Hiccup wrinkles his nose slightly.] I've trained with Toothless before, but that was all flight maneuvers. And it doesn't look like this thing can fly. And in dragon training, I was supposed to learn about weak points and such, but I more or less...used it to get to know dragons more. And tame them.
