newberktown: (uhh)

First Flight. [video/action for new bark town.]

[For anyone browsing the network, they might notice a gangly, brown-haired teen flashing in and out of video. Technology this advanced might be foreign to Hiccup, but he's always been pretty good at working things out and soon enough he seems satisfied enough to keep it on video.

And is he wearing a dorky cape over his usual clothes? He is totally wearing a dorky cape.]

Uhh...

[Uncertain!]

Hello? I must be crazy... Uhmn, if anyone's listening, I could use a little help?

[A more thoughtful look as he goes back to fiddling with the device. A frown follows.]

New Bark Town? Hmn, I guess these guys don't know how to spell Berk... Why can't vikings see grammar is important, too?

[Hiccups gives the feed A Look before shutting it off.]

[Vikings? That's a new one.]

You're not crazy. This place is just weird.

[Well, no more crazy than anyone here is likely to be.]

...nice cape.

O...kay.

[Harry, you now get a flat expression.] ...Thanks. It really suits me.

Not many people could pull off a cape like that.

[Epic poker face.]

Anyway. You probably have this red and white ball in your bag somewhere. It'll have a weird mutant Beanie-Baby thing inside called a Pokemon. They're the basis of just about everything here.

I'm sure special. I mean look at all...this. [Yep, gesturing to himself. No, his voice isn't sarcastic. Why would you say that?

He drops the tone a bit at the information and goes searching for the pokeball. Once he finds it, he looks to Harry again.]

...What's a Beanie-Baby?

Re: [video]

It's a rare breed of animal where I'm from. People have fought for the right to own them.

[It's not TECHNICALLY lying.]

Try pressing that button on the front. Should release whatever's inside.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[And Hiccup has no reason not to believe him! So he just nods and does as he's told.] Okie dokie... Time to release the--

[Flash of light. That sure surprises him. When it fades, he crouches down to the little Horsea.]

Huh. So what is it...?

Re: [video]

[identity profile] used-fireblast.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That's your Pokemon, most likely. Like I said, they're kind of the basis of everything here. Beyond that, uh- ...looks kinda like a seahorse. ...On land.

[Harry's a helper.]

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yep, it sure is a seahorse on land. For a Horsea, it's small, but Hiccup's never seen a seahorse this big.]

It seems more like...a baby dragon. Of the Tidal class. Only not so...deadly-looking. [Oh look, the pokemon likes headpats, yay.]

Re: [video]

[identity profile] used-fireblast.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
[What is this you are talking about, Hiccup. Dragons come only in the kill-you-with-their-brain class.]

Don't let appearances fool you. Most of them are still pretty dangerous.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Nope. Lies.

Hiccup looks up to Harry with a tiny, confused frown.]

...The pokemon, or dragons?

Re: [video]

[identity profile] used-fireblast.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
The Pokemon. Pretty sure dragons mostly do look as dangerous as they are.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
...You've obviously never seen a Terrible Terror.

[He goes back to watching the Horsea.]

And this little guy doesn't seem like he wants to kill or maim me. Just looks...cold.

Re: [video]

[identity profile] used-fireblast.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Harry can't tell if that's an actual thing or just Hiccup being redundant.]

No, but I have seen some pretty Horrible Horrors in my time.

Oh, he probably wouldn't. Doesn't mean he couldn't be capable of it.

[Tiny Smoochum vs the back of Harry's head was a battle that ended in a large bruise and a bad headache.]

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[He tilts his head.]

I've never heard of Horrible Horrors... Are they a type of dragon where you're from?

[Harry...that is shameful.

But here's Hiccup, going back to patting the Horsea on the head.]

Even so, I'm usually pretty good at avoiding death. Surprisingly.

[Dragons, vampires, ghouls, the Shagnasty... it could apply to many things.]

From a certain point of view, yes.

[It is shameful, but it got him to stop questioning Lara's ability to fight.]

Always a useful skill, not-dying.

[He's heard you can't really die here anyway, but he's not about to spread that around without being really, REALLY sure.]
