First Flight. [video/action for new bark town.]
[For anyone browsing the network, they might notice a gangly, brown-haired teen flashing in and out of video. Technology this advanced might be foreign to Hiccup, but he's always been pretty good at working things out and soon enough he seems satisfied enough to keep it on video.
And is he wearing a dorky cape over his usual clothes? He is totally wearing a dorky cape.]
Uhh...
[Uncertain!]
Hello? I must be crazy... Uhmn, if anyone's listening, I could use a little help?
[A more thoughtful look as he goes back to fiddling with the device. A frown follows.]
New Bark Town? Hmn, I guess these guys don't know how to spell Berk... Why can't vikings see grammar is important, too?
[Hiccups gives the feed A Look before shutting it off.]

[Video] DRAGONS DON'T NEED TO.
[Judging by the huge beam on Toothless' face, he likes 'Jhiva' very much. She was the first human here to actually explain things to him without getting impatient-- a little like Hiccup in that sense.]
Jhiva jhiva jhiva jhiva-- [Oh god, he's learned repetition.] jhiva jhiva-- [oh wait Hiccup's saying something. Blinking owlishly, Toothless tilts his head to one side and listens. ... Well, of course it's okay... he can't fly anymore, anyway. Not even WITH someone's help. And as though to communicate this, he turns his head and sends a sour look at his own back, where there is a distinct lack of wings.]
[He lets out a huffy snort.]
[If he could have his way... he would fly all the way back to that tiny human village RIGHT NOW. Just to get to his friend.]
[Video] I WANT TO BE MAD AT YOU FOR THIS
[E-eyetwitch. That is not proper speaking etiquette, Toothless!
But he would have preferred that to the next expression his dragon has. Hiccup wilts, studying his friend. Were it within his abilities, he would construct new wings, but he's sure that nothing he could make would be as strong and agile as the Night Fury's old set. Plus they would probably fail. Hiccup sighs.]
I know, bud. It's not fair.
[Video] BUT YOU CAN'T BE. c:
[Oh gods, just wait till you hear him go into one of his tuneless "ALALALALALALA~" sprees. You can thank Stitch for getting him hooked on THAT sound.]
[The dragon-turned-boy lets out a grumbly noise, wrinkling up his blunt nose. He'd thought that there could be nothing worse than having lost half of the rudder that allowed him to fly on his own... but at least he'd been able to fly with Hiccup. Now he can't fly at all. :(]
Nmmrrrh mrrh mrh....
[Video] ...NO. NO I CAN'T.
Yeah, I hear you. [Thinking, thinking... Well. The only thing he can think of is getting a flying type and teaching it that trick as soon as possible. But it sounds like that's going to take a while, so... Hiccup changes the subject.
He holds up his own pokeball and shows Toothless.] So do you have any of these pokemon things?
[Video] GOOD, I'M GLAD WE AGREE. SO.... HOW ABOUT YOU GET ME A FISH
[At first, Toothless looks a little bit confused. He squints and tilts his head-- but then seemingly remembers. Oh. Oh yeah. Pokemon. Those are a thing.]
[He's pretty much been ignoring his. Dragons might get along as a big flock, but they're not too partial to smaller animals following them around and eating their food. But he still turns abruptly and plods away.]
[... A couple minutes later, he returns.]
[... With a Magikarp.]
[... In his mouth.]
[Video] BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE, APPARENTLY...
AND THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO WITH THEM.]
T-Toothless, drop it boy! I know it's a fish, but it's not food!
[It's also alive and squirming and eurghhh...]
[Video] 8C BUT THIS ONE DOESN'T TASTE GOOD
[This poor animal is dead inside. It's probably used to being chewed on by this point, and it just... stares at the screen. HELP MEEE.]
[But fortunately, Toothless has already discovered that it isn't food... DISAPPOINTINGLY.]
[He DROPS it with a disgusting squelch in front of the 'Gear, where it proceeds to twitch feebly. One day it's going to evolve into the most neurotic Gyarados in existence.]
[But Toothless doesn't seem concerned with that, and he straightens up, smacking his lips and looking at the camera expectantly. If he actually knew how to use human words properly, he'd tell Hiccup about how he waded into the water in this clumsy new body and caught the fish with his BARE ARMS, and then wait patiently to be told what a good hunter he was.]
[Video] NEITHER DOES RAW, HALF-EATEN, PUKED UP FISH, BUT DID I COMPLAIN?
Hiccup recognizes that look. He's not exactly sure what Toothless wants praise FOR (listening, maybe?) but he's not one to disappoint, and so a weak smile curls.]
G-good boy...
[Video] ... WELL HUMAN MOUTHS ARE WEIRD. IT'S -SUPPOSED- TO TASTE GOOD
[Needless to say, Toothless's chest swells at the compliment and he looks INCREDIBLY pleased with himself. Even the most unenthusiastic praise is good enough for him.]
[But it's around that point in time that another face pokes timidly into the screen-- down at the bottom. It's pale blue-and-yellow, with a crown of hard-looking thick gray spikes curving into a sort of helmet shape over the back of its skull-- and it's a dragon. ... Or, well. A Bagon.]
[Video] NO. I AM GOING TO TEACH YOU THE ART OF ~ROASTED FISH~
Yep, Toothless has always been easy to please. Even when he didn't trust Hiccup. But this boy's happy that his dragon is happy and that...Toothless spit the fish out. ...Huh, shouldn't that fish be in water--
OH WELL, distracted by itty bitty dragon baby. Hiccup moves the screen closer, trying to get a better look as his smile becomes more genuine.]
Is that a dragon? Hey, little guy, it's okay... My name's Hiccup. I'm Toothless's friend.
[Video] BUT IT SHOULD BE RAW AND WRIGGLING 8(
[Meanwhile, the much-smaller dragon peers at the screen with intelligent eyes. It's obviously a pretty damn smart Pokemon, if a quiet one-- and the boy on the screen obviously has its interest. It bobs its head slightly closer.]
[... But Toothless will have none of that.]
[He's still a dragon at heart, and he doesn't like sharing his boy. >:(]
[He turns his head towards his starter and bares teeth that, while sharper than the average human's, are fortunately nowhere near as jaggedy as they are in his natural state.]
RRRRRRHHHRRHHHHH.
[GO AWAY, ALL OF THE ATTENTION IS MINE.]
[It's a pretty feral-sounding growl, but while the Bagon does back off, it doesn't seem overly threatened. Just resigned, if anything. Yep. It's used to this.]
[Video] YOU ARE GOING TO BE DISEASED
Toothless... Hey, bud, we're just saying hello. [He offers the Night Fury a small smile.] You know you're my best friend.
[Video] THAT IS SILLY YOU CAN'T GET DISEASES FROM FISH. ... RIGHT?
[Still, although he continues to give the Bagon a bit of a stink-eye, he seems satisfied with the reassurance.]
[Letting out a self-assured snort, he leans back a little-- enough for the little bipedal dragon to creep closer to the screen again. It almost looks APOLOGETIC. As if to say 'It's okay, I've been dealing with this for like four months now'.]
[Video] YOU REALLY WANT TO RISK YOUR HUMAN HEALTH?
Though he addresses the Pokemon, Hiccup's eyes slide to the Night Fury.]
So did Toothless give you a name?
[Video] I'M STILL A DRAGON AT HEART.
[Toothless just turns his nose up. What, he was supposed to name it? Naming things is what HUMANS do. HE IS DRAGON. Hmph.]
[Video] TELL THAT TO JOHTO.
Just figured I'd ask. A lot of the people I've talked to seem to have named their creatures.
[GOSH HICCUP GET OFF HIS CASE, JEEZ.]
[Still, he snorts at the Bagon in seeming apology.]
Actually, no. Hiccup does indeed back off from the topic after the wordless communication between the two dragons, instead studying the Night Fury with a tiny, apologetic smile.]
So hey, Toothless? ...Sorry it took me so long. You know, to get here.
Hnnnm? Hnnnm?
[A low-pitched, questioning whine, before he just leans forward and presses the top of his head against the 'Gear. He probably doesn't realize that all it accomplishes is giving Hiccup a great view of a bunch of spiky hair pressed against the screen, but the gesture is clear enough.]
no subject
...Thanks, bud.
