newberktown: (uhh)

First Flight. [video/action for new bark town.]

[For anyone browsing the network, they might notice a gangly, brown-haired teen flashing in and out of video. Technology this advanced might be foreign to Hiccup, but he's always been pretty good at working things out and soon enough he seems satisfied enough to keep it on video.

And is he wearing a dorky cape over his usual clothes? He is totally wearing a dorky cape.]

Uhh...

[Uncertain!]

Hello? I must be crazy... Uhmn, if anyone's listening, I could use a little help?

[A more thoughtful look as he goes back to fiddling with the device. A frown follows.]

New Bark Town? Hmn, I guess these guys don't know how to spell Berk... Why can't vikings see grammar is important, too?

[Hiccups gives the feed A Look before shutting it off.]

Huh. I'll look into that, thanks.

...Yeah. [Hiccup clears his throat.] Most people...don't. But it's not so bad.

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't worry about it.

But wow... dragons. Real ones don't exist where I'm from, unless you consider the giant lizards as them.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I've been hearing. It's weird to think of a world without dragons, though... Giant lizards?

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Like Komodo dragons, which are dangerous in their own right, but nowhere near the size of an actual dragon.

... Actually, I think it's more like a dinosaur.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-23 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... Dragons come in all sizes. Terrible Terrors are around the size of cats, for instance. Maybe it is a dragon, and...people just don't realize it.

What's a dinosaur, anyway?

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2011-12-24 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Terrible... terrors?

I can't imagine a cat-sized dragon. Besides, don't they normal breathe fire or something?

It's uh... really big lizard, to put it in the simplest terms. People said they roamed earth before everyone else.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-24 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Vikings...are kind of terrible at naming things. Terrible Terrors, Deadly Nadders, Snoggletog, Hiccup...

Yeah, they do. Though all dragons have a shot limit, of course, so they can't just go around breathing fire all the time.

Huh... Even before Ymir and all the other giants? I've...never heard of them, in any of the legends.

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2011-12-25 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
They sound like made-up names in fantasy books to me.

And a shot limit? That's the first I've heard of that.

[A pause as he considers the last one.] I guess you live on a different earth than I do then.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-25 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well... Hiccup's my name, so...

Really? Huh. Well, it varies from the different types of dragons. I think it might have to do with their size.

[Hiccup mostly just stares. He's heard of the different timelines, and with Yuuta not having dragons where he's from, Hiccup probably shouldn't be as weirded out by this concept as he is.]

...A different earth?

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2011-12-26 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
[He still finds it to be a weird name.]

And I'm Yuuta, since you're introducing.

So smaller dragons have less firepower or something? [He thinks about it as he nod absentmindedly.]

Because if there were dragons on my earth, then I think we would have heard some discoveries about it.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-28 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Yep. So does Hiccup. It's all good.]

I would think so. I haven't exactly studied that particularly aspect of them too much, but Fishlegs could probably tell you. ...If he were here, I mean.

That's true, I guess. There's plenty of stuff that I've never heard of, so it makes sense. Still, it's...weird, isn't it? I mean, I can't be the only one whose mind is completely boggled here.

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Fishlegs. [What kind of name is that?]

... Uh, right. And no, not likely. Mind boggling is kind of normal actually.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he notices that tone of voice and clears his throat.] Hey, it's better than Snotlout, at least.

Sure seems that way... Can't wait until I can go around talking about all this like an every day occurrence. Everyone I've talked to here seems pretty calm.

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, Snotlout is horrible. Just what is this naming sense? [He's so happy he's not born wherever that place is.]

You get used to it after a while. Soon enough, you can be mindless drones like the rest of us.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Vikings are fountains of creativity. [Complete with sarcasm.

His voice does become a tiny bit more upbeat, though.]
Great. Being a mindless drone sounds easy enough. And better than learning how to properly throw an axe to clip a dragon's wings. [Not that...he could do either of those things.]

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay, completely derailed at that second statement.]

Properly throwing a--- they teach that to minors?!

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's...part of dragon training--the class we take to learn how to fight them. If you can't kill dragons, you're...pretty much useless to the tribe.

[It takes a bit of effort, but he withholds the sigh.]

[identity profile] superrising.livejournal.com 2012-01-07 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
... Wow, the situation must be really bad then if that's a basic requirement.
