First Flight. [video/action for new bark town.]

[For anyone browsing the network, they might notice a gangly, brown-haired teen flashing in and out of video. Technology this advanced might be foreign to Hiccup, but he's always been pretty good at working things out and soon enough he seems satisfied enough to keep it on video.

And is he wearing a dorky cape over his usual clothes? He is totally wearing a dorky cape.]

Uhh...

[Uncertain!]

Hello? I must be crazy... Uhmn, if anyone's listening, I could use a little help?

[A more thoughtful look as he goes back to fiddling with the device. A frown follows.]

New Bark Town? Hmn, I guess these guys don't know how to spell Berk... Why can't vikings see grammar is important, too?

[Hiccups gives the feed A Look before shutting it off.]

[Video] HE'S HAPPY TO HAVE HIS BOY BACK

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, having THAT pop up on the screen suddenly is sort of like those screamer images, except instead of a ghostly face or that girl from The Exorcist or something, it's a mass of shaggy black hair with green eyes that's making gagging sounds. ... Happily.]

[But yes, needless to say, it's a VERY good thing Hiccup's been informed of Toothless's newfound humanity, because the Night Fury couldn't look more different-- that much is obvious once his face withdraws from the screen a little bit.]

[Hell, the first comparison that could probably be drawn to his new appearance is probably Snotlout of all things-- similar beefy build and broad face. It stands to reason that something as muscular and powerful as a dragon would probably wind up with a pretty Viking-like build. His hair is a spiky black mane of semi-organized chaos, and the teeth he's currently beaming at the camera with are bigger and pointier than one might expect from a human.]

[But it's still the same old Toothless under that pale human skin.]

Hkkhup khp kuhph hkkhp hiekkh hkuhp!

[Boy is he glad to see you, buddy.]

[Video] STOP MAKING ME SMILE LIKE AN IDIOT

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Now that Hiccup has a chance to see more of Toothless, he's struck by just how much his friend has changed. But he does note the similarity to Snotlout, and since Snotlout is his cousin...yay, Toothless looks like a relative? EVEN IF THEIR BUILDS COULDN'T BE ANY MORE DIFFERENT.

And wow those sure are some teeth, yep. But Hiccup's smile isn't deterred!]

Hey, boy, it's good to see you, too... [He finds himself lightly touching the screen and arghhh, he wants to hug the dragon. Forcing his grin even wider, he tells himself not to think of the distance between them at the moment.] How you been?

[Video] YOU FIRST

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Hells yeah, they could be brothers!]

[Eventually Toothless gives up trying to make Hiccup's name come out right-- he has a hard time with that 'up' part of it, even if he has slowly been picking up words. So instead he just responds with the closest human equivalent to those happy croons he so often made as a dragon.]

[Hiccup is here. Hiccup is in the new world. Everything is good now.]

[Video] I ASKED FIRST

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't worry, Toothless, you'll get there! Getting you to say his name properly is going to be at the top of Hiccup's 'Words to Teach My Dragon-Turned-Human' list. For now, he is perfectly content with those croons.]

Mmn, good. [He chuckles, then studies Toothless. A teasing lilt enters his tone, because this is the one being he is comfortable enough with to not be sarcastic whenever he jokes.] So just how much did you miss me? I hear you've made friends here.

[Video] ... WELL, I'M THE DRAGON. SO THERE.

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Slowly but surely! Thus far, he has more or less mastered the word 'fish', gotten quite good at going "lalalalalalala" incessantly, and has managed to get the pronunciation of "kitty" down perfectly (which would be more helpful if he actually knew what it meant. In addition, he'd learned "what", and someone had taught him how to say a few dirty phrases in some alien language that fortunately only one person in Johto even understood, and that person sure isn't Toothless.]

[It ain't much, but it's something.]

[When Hiccup's voice takes on that familiar teasing tone, the bright beam comes right back and Toothless just sort of... wiggles excitedly. Like the human equivalent of the Happy You're-Home Dance practiced by dogs greeting their masters everywhere. It's the exact same dance he eventually started to do every time Hiccup made it to the little hidden cove in the woods after Dragon Training.]

[MISSED YOU MISSED YOU MISSED YOUUUUUU]

'S!

[He had made friends! A little reluctantly at first... after all, prior to arrival, Hiccup had been the only human Toothless had ever encountered up close as opposed to seeing them run around willy-nilly on the ground far below. But as the months passed, he'd come to appreciate them much in the same way that he'd come to appreciate Hiccup himself. ... Not TOTALLY the same, though. Hiccup would always be the special one.]

Jhiva kitty bee jhivaaa...

[... Yeah he hadn't quite... mastered their names yet...]

[Video] YOU DON'T FIGHT FAIR

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he's familiar with that dance. It always makes a smile come to his face. However, it's much different seeing it coming from a fellow human than from a derpy dragon. Hiccup's happy to see that, even when transferred to a completely different body, Toothless is still pretty much the same on the inside.

He raises an eyebrow as Toothless begins 'talking', because...seriously, what are those words. He can guess what 'Jhiva' is supposed to be, after meeting Ziva, but that's about it.]

I've met Ziva, too. She's pretty helpful, hmn?

[And then he remembers that he had something that he wanted to discuss with Toothless. Hmn.]

So, uh... Hey, buddy, I'm kind of far away from you right now. I don't really know how long it'll take to meet up, but... Ziva said that maybe someone could fly one of us to the other, if we find someone with a pokemon that can do that.

It might be best for me to do the flying, and you stick with Ziva and her friends for right now. Is that okay?

[Video] DRAGONS DON'T NEED TO.

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: Considering the fourth wall event coming up, Toothless will be regaining his original form for a couple days over the weekend and crazy shortened travel-times/teleportation/what have you shenanigans can ensue-- if you'd be up for it, we could possibly bring Hiccup to Goldenrod then! Particularly since the first thing Toothless would do in his original form would be parading off to fetch Hiccup.]

[Judging by the huge beam on Toothless' face, he likes 'Jhiva' very much. She was the first human here to actually explain things to him without getting impatient-- a little like Hiccup in that sense.]

Jhiva jhiva jhiva jhiva-- [Oh god, he's learned repetition.] jhiva jhiva-- [oh wait Hiccup's saying something. Blinking owlishly, Toothless tilts his head to one side and listens. ... Well, of course it's okay... he can't fly anymore, anyway. Not even WITH someone's help. And as though to communicate this, he turns his head and sends a sour look at his own back, where there is a distinct lack of wings.]

[He lets out a huffy snort.]

[If he could have his way... he would fly all the way back to that tiny human village RIGHT NOW. Just to get to his friend.]

[Video] I WANT TO BE MAD AT YOU FOR THIS

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: WHATEVER WORKS LOL I'm not picky. A tiny bit nervous about the fourth wall event, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.]

[E-eyetwitch. That is not proper speaking etiquette, Toothless!

But he would have preferred that to the next expression his dragon has. Hiccup wilts, studying his friend. Were it within his abilities, he would construct new wings, but he's sure that nothing he could make would be as strong and agile as the Night Fury's old set. Plus they would probably fail. Hiccup sighs.]

I know, bud. It's not fair.

[Video] BUT YOU CAN'T BE. c:

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ooc: AHAH yeah it's a little confusing at first, but don't worry, it's mostly just fun! In any case, it'd be a pretty easy way to get them to the same place. We'll figure something out!]

[Oh gods, just wait till you hear him go into one of his tuneless "ALALALALALALA~" sprees. You can thank Stitch for getting him hooked on THAT sound.]

[The dragon-turned-boy lets out a grumbly noise, wrinkling up his blunt nose. He'd thought that there could be nothing worse than having lost half of the rudder that allowed him to fly on his own... but at least he'd been able to fly with Hiccup. Now he can't fly at all. :(]

Nmmrrrh mrrh mrh....

[Video] ...NO. NO I CAN'T.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh joy. He'd be glad Toothless found another not-human friend, but... Stitch is such a bad influence.]

Yeah, I hear you. [Thinking, thinking... Well. The only thing he can think of is getting a flying type and teaching it that trick as soon as possible. But it sounds like that's going to take a while, so... Hiccup changes the subject.

He holds up his own pokeball and shows Toothless.]
So do you have any of these pokemon things?

[Video] GOOD, I'M GLAD WE AGREE. SO.... HOW ABOUT YOU GET ME A FISH

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-08 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[Stitch is pretty much the WORST influence.]

[At first, Toothless looks a little bit confused. He squints and tilts his head-- but then seemingly remembers. Oh. Oh yeah. Pokemon. Those are a thing.]

[He's pretty much been ignoring his. Dragons might get along as a big flock, but they're not too partial to smaller animals following them around and eating their food. But he still turns abruptly and plods away.]

[... A couple minutes later, he returns.]

[... With a Magikarp.]

[... In his mouth.]

[Video] BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE, APPARENTLY...

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-09 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, Toothless, Pokemon are kind of a major thing in Johto.

AND THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU DO WITH THEM.]

T-Toothless, drop it boy! I know it's a fish, but it's not food!

[It's also alive and squirming and eurghhh...]

[Video] 8C BUT THIS ONE DOESN'T TASTE GOOD

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Look, Hiccup. Look at the Magikarp's eyes.]

[This poor animal is dead inside. It's probably used to being chewed on by this point, and it just... stares at the screen. HELP MEEE.]

[But fortunately, Toothless has already discovered that it isn't food... DISAPPOINTINGLY.]

[He DROPS it with a disgusting squelch in front of the 'Gear, where it proceeds to twitch feebly. One day it's going to evolve into the most neurotic Gyarados in existence.]

[But Toothless doesn't seem concerned with that, and he straightens up, smacking his lips and looking at the camera expectantly. If he actually knew how to use human words properly, he'd tell Hiccup about how he waded into the water in this clumsy new body and caught the fish with his BARE ARMS, and then wait patiently to be told what a good hunter he was.]

[Video] NEITHER DOES RAW, HALF-EATEN, PUKED UP FISH, BUT DID I COMPLAIN?

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Wow yep, he stomach sure is turning uncomfortably. It would have been okay, were Toothless the mighty Night Fury he had been, but... Just how could he continue to try and eat living fish as a human.

Hiccup recognizes that look. He's not exactly sure what Toothless wants praise FOR (listening, maybe?) but he's not one to disappoint, and so a weak smile curls.]

G-good boy...

[Video] ... WELL HUMAN MOUTHS ARE WEIRD. IT'S -SUPPOSED- TO TASTE GOOD

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fortunately, Pokemon can't die that anybody is aware of, so as abused as this poor fish is, it's still in pretty good health.]

[Needless to say, Toothless's chest swells at the compliment and he looks INCREDIBLY pleased with himself. Even the most unenthusiastic praise is good enough for him.]

[But it's around that point in time that another face pokes timidly into the screen-- down at the bottom. It's pale blue-and-yellow, with a crown of hard-looking thick gray spikes curving into a sort of helmet shape over the back of its skull-- and it's a dragon. ... Or, well. A Bagon.]

[Video] NO. I AM GOING TO TEACH YOU THE ART OF ~ROASTED FISH~

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-10 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hiccup is going to have to...put it in therapy or something. To heal its mental scars.

Yep, Toothless has always been easy to please. Even when he didn't trust Hiccup. But this boy's happy that his dragon is happy and that...Toothless spit the fish out. ...Huh, shouldn't that fish be in water--

OH WELL, distracted by itty bitty dragon baby. Hiccup moves the screen closer, trying to get a better look as his smile becomes more genuine.]

Is that a dragon? Hey, little guy, it's okay... My name's Hiccup. I'm Toothless's friend.

[Video] BUT IT SHOULD BE RAW AND WRIGGLING 8(

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Probably a good idea. Having a GIANT SEASNAKE that's terrified of its own shadow can be ... dangerous.]

[Meanwhile, the much-smaller dragon peers at the screen with intelligent eyes. It's obviously a pretty damn smart Pokemon, if a quiet one-- and the boy on the screen obviously has its interest. It bobs its head slightly closer.]

[... But Toothless will have none of that.]

[He's still a dragon at heart, and he doesn't like sharing his boy. >:(]

[He turns his head towards his starter and bares teeth that, while sharper than the average human's, are fortunately nowhere near as jaggedy as they are in his natural state.]

RRRRRRHHHRRHHHHH.

[GO AWAY, ALL OF THE ATTENTION IS MINE.]

[It's a pretty feral-sounding growl, but while the Bagon does back off, it doesn't seem overly threatened. Just resigned, if anything. Yep. It's used to this.]

[Video] YOU ARE GOING TO BE DISEASED

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hiccup jumps a little at the snarl. Knowing Toothless, he probably should have expected such a reaction, but most people seem to enjoy the company of their pokemon, and not get jealous of them. A frown curls on the boy's lips.]

Toothless... Hey, bud, we're just saying hello. [He offers the Night Fury a small smile.] You know you're my best friend.

[Video] THAT IS SILLY YOU CAN'T GET DISEASES FROM FISH. ... RIGHT?

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Sadly, Toothless sure isn't most people... but then again, any animal that's been ON the 'trained' side isn't likely to have much of an idea how to pull off the 'trainer' role. Toothless is no exception.]

[Still, although he continues to give the Bagon a bit of a stink-eye, he seems satisfied with the reassurance.]

[Letting out a self-assured snort, he leans back a little-- enough for the little bipedal dragon to creep closer to the screen again. It almost looks APOLOGETIC. As if to say 'It's okay, I've been dealing with this for like four months now'.]

[Video] YOU REALLY WANT TO RISK YOUR HUMAN HEALTH?

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-14 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[He continues to eye Toothless for a few more seconds before looking to the Bagon. He has more experience dealing with reading the emotions of dragons than humans, and so he gets the gist of it. And sighs. Oh Toothless.

Though he addresses the Pokemon, Hiccup's eyes slide to the Night Fury.]

So did Toothless give you a name?

[Video] I'M STILL A DRAGON AT HEART.

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-15 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[The dragon Pokemon sort of gives its head a little shake-- apart from the fact that the spikes on its head are more helmet-like than protruding, it's not so different from one of the Deadly Nadders from back in Berk. ... And, you know, the stubby tail and distinct lack of wings.]

[Toothless just turns his nose up. What, he was supposed to name it? Naming things is what HUMANS do. HE IS DRAGON. Hmph.]

[Video] TELL THAT TO JOHTO.

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hiccup just raises his eyebrow at his friend, expression exasperated and a little amused. Of course, he should have expected this.]

Just figured I'd ask. A lot of the people I've talked to seem to have named their creatures.

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[He makes a bit of a face, shrugging his shoulders-- that's one of the several humanish gestures he's learned over the months.]

[GOSH HICCUP GET OFF HIS CASE, JEEZ.]

[Still, he snorts at the Bagon in seeming apology.]

[identity profile] newberktown.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[NEVER.

Actually, no. Hiccup does indeed back off from the topic after the wordless communication between the two dragons, instead studying the Night Fury with a tiny, apologetic smile.]

So hey, Toothless? ...Sorry it took me so long. You know, to get here.

[identity profile] halfatail.livejournal.com 2011-12-21 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
[He swivels his head back towards the camera, eyes growing large.]

Hnnnm? Hnnnm?

[A low-pitched, questioning whine, before he just leans forward and presses the top of his head against the 'Gear. He probably doesn't realize that all it accomplishes is giving Hiccup a great view of a bunch of spiky hair pressed against the screen, but the gesture is clear enough.]
